Chapter Philanthropy

How Will Sigma Kappa Get Involved This Year?

Sigma Kappa participates annually in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year, the sisters walked in the Anderson Alzheimer's Walk on September 23rd. They enjoyed raising awareness for this cause and walking to help end Alzheimer’s disease.

Each year during the week of Sigma Kappa’s Founder’s Day, the girls participate in a week of giving back to the community. Philanthropy is extremely important to the chapter and each girl has a passion for helping and volunteering. This upcoming semester, 3 community service projects will be planned for the second week of November. Each girl will pick which one they would like to attend and help out at. It is a rewarding experience for all the members during the Week of Giving.

Where Do the Proceeds Go?

Proceeds for the events that Sigma Kappa raises funds for go toward the Sigma Kappa Foundation PULSE Fund. PULSE stands for philanthropic initiatives (Gerontology with a focus on Alzheimer’s, Maine Sea Coast Mission, and Inherit the Earth), unrestricted gifts, leadership development, sisters in need, and education. Whenever the Gamma Eta chapter sends in the money raised at an event to Headquarters, the Foundation will split up the money in an appropriate way into these categories.
